KTU Community Celebrates International Project Management Day: Prof. V. Marozas Honored with the “Project Manager of the Year” Award

Important | 2025-11-14

On 13 November 2025, the University marked International Project Management Day. The Science and Innovation Projects Centre, together with the Project Development Centre, invited the University community to the annual “KTU Leopards” awards—an event that has become a valued tradition for recognising outstanding project managers and teams.

This year’s ceremony featured ten award categories, with each laureate receiving a diploma and a specially designed badge.

We are proud to congratulate Prof. Vaidotas Marozas, Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, who received the “Project Manager of the Year” award. In selecting the winner, the committee considered the number of projects coordinated during the reporting period, the size of project teams, the scope of project budgets, and the results achieved. The teams led by Prof. Marozas stood out for their ability to manage complex initiatives effectively and ensure smooth project delivery from idea to outcome.

The year 2025 has been exceptional in terms of project growth at the University. In the first three quarters alone, 163 international and 143 national projects were carried out. Most of these are research and innovation initiatives funded through programmes such as Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, the Research Council of Lithuania, and other funding mechanisms. Altogether, KTU is implementing 444 research, innovation, and study projects this year—or 502 when including infrastructure and institutional projects—managed by 272 project leaders.

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering is currently running three international research projects under the Horizon Europe and Euramet programmes, all led successfully by Prof. Marozas, along with three projects funded by the Research Council of Lithuania.

We warmly congratulate all project managers and project teams at the Institute. Their dedicated and consistent work strengthens collaboration with international partners and helps highlight Lithuania’s scientific achievements on the global stage.
