At the end of March, the five-month ECIU Leadership Development Programme came to a close. Among its participants was Dr. Mantas Jucevičius, the Head of the Physiological Monitoring Systems Laboratory.
The ECIU Leadership Development Programme is designed for young and emerging leaders in academic settings, as well as in university administration and support services. Since its launch in 2003, the programme has brought together professionals from a wide range of fields seeking to strengthen their leadership skills, develop strategic thinking, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing modern higher education.
Held for the 19th time, this year’s programme focused on personal leadership development, vision and strategy building, organisational culture in universities, leadership models, and the latest trends in European higher education policy. Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about ECIU member universities, innovative initiatives, and the principles of challenge-based learning.
The programme included three seminars held at Linköping University on 11–14 November 2025, Kaunas University of Technology on 27–30 January 2026, and in Brussels on 24–27 March 2026. The final seminar took place alongside the ECIU Board meeting.
During the concluding stage in Brussels, participants presented the future strategies developed throughout the programme to the ECIU Board. These proposals were aimed at strengthening the ECIU university consortium and supporting its further development. The final meeting provided an opportunity not only to reflect on the experience gained over the five months, but also to make a practical contribution to shaping ECIU’s future direction.
