During the lectures, prof. V. Marozas presented the Horizon Europe projects “ThrombUS+” and “CVDLINK“, carried out by the Biomedical Engineering Institute, highlighting the challenges they address, the solutions being developed, and the experience gained through their implementation. Lithuania and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) were also introduced as an attractive destination for Erasmus+ student exchanges.
One of the key outcomes of the visit was the interest expressed by master’s students in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Zaragoza in undertaking an exchange at KTU. As no students from the university have yet participated in an exchange at KTU, this interest offers an opportunity to strengthen student mobility between the two institutions. In addition, an early-career researcher at the University of Zaragoza expressed an intention to undertake a research placement in Kaunas.

The visit also provided an opportunity to establish contact with “Bitbrain“, an innovative company based in Zaragoza that develops wearable devices for monitoring brain activity, and to explore prospects for collaboration. This connection was facilitated by prof. Marozas’s host, Professor Raquel Bailón.
Erasmus+ is the European Union’s programme supporting education, training, youth and sport. It provides opportunities for students to study and undertake traineeships abroad, while enabling academic and other higher education staff to teach, develop their professional skills and exchange experience with colleagues in other countries. The programme promotes international collaboration, intercultural understanding and the development of new academic connections. More information: Erasmus+.
