The paper “Objective evaluation of physical activity pattern using smart devices” was published by researchers of Biomedical engineering institute (Monika Šimaitytė, Andrius Petrėnas, Vaidotas Marozas) and a student of Biomedical engineering bachelor program (Julija Kravčenko) in an open access journal Scientific Reports from the publishers of Nature. The aim of the paper was to introduce a metric for quantitative evaluation of physical activity pattern, i.e., session frequency and distribution over time. Since physical activity pattern may play a significant role on survival after major cardiovascular events, the proposed metric is expected to have clinical relevance when studying physical activity pattern relationship with health outcome.
